The vocabulary, in plain language.
The terms behind DaggerOS, defined for the people who evaluate systems like it.
- Air-gapped command and control
- A C2 system that operates with no external network connection — no cloud, no call-home — running entirely on local hardware at the edge, so a lost or absent link does not degrade it. Read more →
- DDIL Disconnected · Degraded · Intermittent · Limited
- The communications conditions a contested or remote environment imposes on a force. A DDIL-tolerant system keeps working when the network is cut, slow, flickering, or low-bandwidth.
- Counter-UAS C-UAS
- The detection, identification, tracking, and defeat of unmanned aircraft systems — drones. See the domain →
- Human Gate
- DaggerOS's single authorization checkpoint; every effect requires a deliberate, sustained human hold to commit, and there is no autonomous engagement path. Hold it yourself →
- DoDD 3000.09
- The DoD Directive on autonomy in weapon systems (reissued 25 Jan 2023), requiring designs that let commanders and operators exercise appropriate levels of human judgment over the use of force.
- Electronic Warfare EA · ES · EP
- Military use of the electromagnetic spectrum: electronic attack (EA), electronic support/sensing (ES), and electronic protection (EP). DaggerOS reads the spectrum receive-first and commits any electronic-attack effect only through the human gate.
- Signals Intelligence SIGINT
- Intelligence derived from intercepting and analyzing signals and emitters. On DaggerOS it is passive direction-finding fused into one track, without ever radiating.
- Resilient PNT
- Positioning, Navigation and Timing that holds through GPS degradation, denial, and spoofing by corroborating across constellations and independent, non-satellite sources.
- GNSS jamming vs spoofing
- Jamming overwhelms a receiver with noise so it loses the signal; spoofing feeds it false signals so it computes a wrong position or time. Jamming denies; spoofing deceives.
- Sensor fusion
- Combining independent sensing phenomenologies (RF, radar, EO/IR, acoustic) into one tracked picture, so a bearing from one sensor becomes a fix when corroborated by others.
- MOSA Modular Open Systems Approach
- Building on published, conforming interfaces so the government owns the interface and its data and is not locked to a single vendor for the life of a program.
- Tamper-evident record
- An append-only record in which each entry is sealed with a hash that depends on the hash before it, so altering any earlier entry breaks every seal after it. Break one yourself →
- UAS Groups 1–5
- The DoD classification of unmanned aircraft by weight, altitude and speed. Small UAS are Groups 1 (<20 lb) and 2 (21–55 lb), and sometimes the lower end of Group 3.
- TRL Technology Readiness Level
- A 1–9 scale of maturity. DaggerOS is assessed at TRL 7–8, demonstrated under live, operationally representative conditions at T-REX 26-2 (May 2026).
- MAVLink · ATAK / CoT
- Open interfaces DaggerOS speaks: MAVLink (and ArduPilot/PX4) for airframes; ATAK and Cursor-on-Target (CoT) for the shared force picture.
